As part of the Carleton University Research Opportunity Program (CUROP), the Faculty of Public Affairs is now accepting applications for summer 2018 undergraduate research internships. This is a student-led initiative in which students will submit a 1-page description of a research project that they wish to work on during the summer of 2018 in collaboration with a faculty member in the Faculty of Public Affairs. The proposal must be supported by a statement from the faculty member who will be supervising the project. Students must also submit their resume, a transcript, and a 1-page cover letter setting out the project they would like to research and what skills and experiences they hope to gain through this program.
Students will receive a stipend of $7500 (this sum includes 4% vacation pay and statutory holidays) over the course of the summer. The expectation is that the research project undertaken will constitute a full-time, or near full-time, opportunity during the summer term.
In the Fall 2018, students will be expected to give a brief presentation of the research they undertook as well as submit a 2-page abstract of their research that will be compiled into an online proceedings of Undergraduate Student Research 2018.
We expect to be able to fund up to 10 CUROP positions this summer.
To be eligible students must have completed at least 2nd year of their undergraduate program and be taking a Major in the Faculty of Public Affairs. (If students have two Majors, one of them must be in the Faculty of Public Affairs. Students are only eligible for CUROP funding in one Faculty and cannot hold two CUROP funded positions in different faculties).
Students who are graduating in June 2018 are eligible for this program.
